Hello everybody, New to the forum. Please be gentle!!
I have aquired a 95 7.4L and a bravo1 to replace a worn out 260/alpha1. The boat I got the motor/drive from went down in a hurricane last year. I am ready to rebiuld the motor.
I need some help since i have never owned a BBC before.I got the block checked and it is fine. I need a set of pistons for this motor, what compression am I looking for? Hyper or forged? I am on a tight budget and not looking for the best, just reliable.
Thanks

If you are going to rebuild it back to a stock configuration, and not looking for big power,(nitrous use ect...) just do the hypers. Spend the money on good machine work and the motor will last for years.

yup---go with stock marine-grade engine parts----if while the engine is out you choose to put a little hotter cam and lifter set in along with a new timing chain and gear set---- that would be good too---wouldnt be too much money and the time is prime while the engine is out----good luck with it
