Default 525SC Serial Numbers ???

Motor is a 96. Where can I find the Mercruiser serial numbers ? Just want to varify it is a real 525SC.

Did they offer this motor in 96? Also, where can I find the serial number on the motor???

Yes, They made 525SC in 96. List updated.

Numbers should be on the side of the block near the starter.

On my '96 525SC, I couldn't find the number either until I tore it apart. There was no riveted tag, but the engine was still wire sealed on the intake and crank pulley bolts.

I finally found it when I rebuilt the top end. The serial was stamped into the block behind the fuel filter seapump bracket, just below the cylinder head, if I remember correctly. Also the stamping was only about the same size as the type you are reading now.
