I don't know the best place to find keyed power on your particular harness but when you do find it use it to run a relay with 10 or 12 gauge wires coming from your main power supply to run your fuel pump so you don't suffer a voltage drop at wot,and if you want to be safe run it thru a hobbs switch so you don't have a fire if you get in some kind of wreck or accident or if something malfunctions if the key gets left on,Smitty

The purple wire in your harness is a keyed 12 volt source. You can pick it up on the + side of the coil. If it is a factory carb motor, you can also get it from the choke or the alternator. It is purple at all of these locations. As Artic said, don't even attempt it without a relay. Let the relay do the work with 10 gauge wiring straight from the battery or alt.

Then you have to run wires all the way back to the engine compartment from the dash. If you pick up the switched lead on the motor, you don't have to run wires very far. At least, that's my thinking.

Use a 5 pin 40 amp relay.
87a - 12v. from starter durning crank.
87 - 12v. fused from batt.
30 - to the fuel pump
85 - 12v. from ign
86 - goes to ground. I used a oil pressure switch also.
87 & 30 use #10 wire.
