Default 27' Daytona Prop Choice

I have a 27' Eliminator Daytona Open Bow with about 900hp. Currently using a standard length lower unit with 1.35 gears, and a 28p Bravo I 4 blade. I am thinking of going to a 2 inch shorter lower unit. What would be a good prop top start with. The 28p ran 94 at about 5600 rpm (not full throttle if that matters). Thanks in advance.

Is that on the limiter? I would want to know max speed before I changed anything. Then only change one thing at a time, that is the only way to know what helps or hurts. mine is standard length also, but 1.5 gears w 31 p b1. still working on setup too. if you try the short drive, let me know if you loose on takeoff. Have heard claims of no loss and claims of hard to get on plane. Good luck

Planning can go out the window on these boats with 2" X raises. However I know of applications where it remained acceptable.

You will need to go up at least 2"s of pitch. A 5 blade may be a option too but we will need to weigh the increases over the shorter and the 4 blade. A 1" depth change is also a option.

That is not on the limiter. Pretty sure my motor will turn at least 6400 rpm. The open bow boats are setup with the x 1 inch lower than the closed bow boats. I think I would like to go up 2 inches with a short lower and if I have planing problem, then I can add a 1 inch spacer. So Should I start with a 30p or go bigger with a 32 or 34?

yes you can run a 1 inch spacer I did. We ran a 30 p bravo 1 Labbed ran the best. Didnt try a 5 blade because our slip was not very high. 1000 hp pfaff 1.24 gear. and a 1.35 gear.
