Default How fast 1979 25.5 Formula Liberator

1979 Formula 255 Liberator. Twin 350/260HP Carbs W/Alpha Drives.

Does anyone remember how fast these boats ran with twin stock 260 alphas with good SS props.

I'm thinking 55 MPH tops with no gear and light fuel.

No tie bars on the out drives!

With twin 300hp maybe 60 ish before it starts walking all over.

What do you guys think?

I think you are about right with the 55 mph.

I would say easily 60 maybe 62 if the engines are running good. Used to have a 26 Monza copy with twin 260s radared at 63 back in the day with cleavers.

255 Liberator is big ,tall , heavy beast with some built in hook in the hull,
it is more of a cruiser with a somewhat sporty look,
I would be surprised if it ran faster than 55mph with twin 350s stock.

Thumbs up 28 mach1

Just thought I would throw this out there. 1989 Mach1 Concorde mv2700 (28') with twin 270 magnums and alpha's runs 62.6 GPS with two and half a tank. very tall very heavy boat. rides like a dream. Just sold it back to the previous owner who reggreted selling it after owning for 13 years. 23" Predator props both RH no tie bar.
