A customer of mine bought a set of "inexpensive" al. heads and they were a pain in the ass and didn't make any more hp! The heil-coils fell out, clearance problems, yada, yada. On the dyno, nothing. So all he got was al. heads, saved a little weight. My .02...if you're gonna do it,buy the good stuff,AFR,Dart, etc.call Bob at Kenetics Marine,he's the man.

I built a 496 a few years ago for my 24 Outlaw and used Canfields. I encourage you to use high quality "tried and true" parts the first time to prevent future problems. As mentioned in the above post, Bob is the man to talk to. I spoke with Bob during my build and he will not steer you wrong.

Good luck with your build. Feel free to drop me a message if you have any questions that I may help you with. Although I did not follow the typical marine build, I am very pleased with the performance and reliability of the engine.

Call Bob RMBuilder for your Cam, let him know what your goal is and he will custom grind one for your specs. He is making one for me right now.
