Thinking of putting a MSD 6M and maybe a "blaster" coil on my boat, its a 95 454EFI, has anyone done this? is it pretty straightforward? I have wired a pile of 7AL3's and MSD10's on previous drag cars, but, didn't know if there was anything different in a marine application?

Very easy. They come with full instructions and they also have all the instructions on their web site if you want to check out before buying. Here's a diagram from Teague Marine Tech Tips section on their home page.

Great, thanks! I looked at the PDF file and was curious? I am using the OEM distributor not the MSD one, do you still hook up the wires to the distributor the same way? If I use the stock coil is it the same as well?

They show in the instructions that come with the box how to hook up to different distributors and coils. They also include a bag of different connectors and such for making the connections.

Why do you want to run a MSD on a stock motor?

Just to clean up the idle, a little better economy, ran SEVERAL stock motors with 6A's and 6AL's and always had good luck, I guess the same reasons most people run them.

If you're having rough idle, cabon fowling on a stock efi motor you've got a problem that an MSD would only be a bandaid for.
Same with a blaster coil, if your firing voltage requires 60kV, you've got other problems.
You might want to look up reliability issues with MSD in the tech section too.
