Question Trim indicator cables

Can trim indicator cables be lubed??? One of mine appears to stick as one ram will not follow the drive past 6 on the indicator. I can pull the ram out, so it does move. Can this be cleaned & lubed or must the cable be replaced?

Don't know if it will work on these cables but we use to on the motorcycle cables we would take ziplock bag cut little hole in bottom corner insert cable tape it back real good put some light oil in and hang it higher than the outher end overnight!James

Thumbs down

I tried to lube mine. how I lube cables is to remove all hardware from the end and clamp a short piece ( 1 ft ) of fuel line to the end covering all the way up to the plastic part. Then I pour in the lube of choice and then clamp the other end to an air line and turn on the air--- blows the lube through the cable. But not with the indicator cables--they are sealed. NOTE push the lube in at the dash end-- don't push the dirt further up the cable.

I just replaced all 4 , trim / tab cables on my cigarette, they rust, most of the time the rust is on the outside exposed part, the best prices I found for 33c supreme. 21-25' was $65 at Boat owners warehouse in South Fla. It took about 4 hours to put all the cable in, I taped the new cable to the old one and pull it through.
