My guess is your engine makes about 550-575 hp the way it's set up right now. Sorry but those heads are not much better than stock GM rect. port heads, the cam is short on duration and lift, and a 950 Holley actually has the same size venturies as a 750. A bunch of OSO members have 650-700 hp 540's running around but the cost is so high , new heads, cam, Dominator carb and manifold, it would be worth while to put a blower on it and make more.

AFR 315 CNC heads, Edelbrock Victor intake, 1050 Dominator carb, custom cam with a bit more duration and lift and maybe 1.8 rockers on the intake side. 10.0 - 1 small dome pistons by JE-SRP. This combination will make 700 hp in a 540 and idle nicely at 800 rpm. Problem is, the heads cost all most as much as an 8-71 blower.

My engines responded well to a set of Merlin "X" intakes and AED worked 1050 Dominators.

If you go M1 with 5 lbs of boost you will be OK, Any more then that you really need to go EFI. Look into Rtech intercooler with vortex
