Default 502 MAG Cam Upgrades?

2000 502 MPI rebuild. Lookin to get about 500 HP. What is the best cam to use for this build? Also changing the exhaust. Can I use the stock MPI/ computer or should I go to a Dart intake and an 800 Holley?

I'm sure you can get the EFI to work...now if you want to spend the extra $$ to do so ?? call Bob @ marine kinetics on the cam selection...you could do a HP500 cam, dart intake and 800 and be real close...

Tyler Crockett has a whole package he does to make a little more than 500 hp with those engines.

Teague listed the parts to convert a 502 MPI to a 500 EFI in the April 2008 Powerboat Magazine issue and provided an update response to me in the Oct/Nov 2010 issue. He quoted about 525 hp when done. See this thread:

I'm doing the conversion with my 502's this winter.

Call Bob.....He custom ground a cam for my 97 502 mag I turned into a 540 and it was spot on. I am somewhere around 600 hp judging by the amount of fuel I am giving it (I haven't dyno'ed it yet). A guy he partners with (Mark @ Precision Marine) handles the computer re-calibration and that was pretty much perfect from the get-go to. These guys are awesome and I can't say enough good things about them....very knowledgable and truly customer satisfaction orientated professionals. Call and pick Bobs brain before you start your build.
