Let me start by saying I have 3 kids and dont need a boat that will do 80! I would like opinions on this boat at this price. Any owners or past owners of 38 specials please give your thoughts on this model as well. Thanks in advance for your time and help!!

I'm storing a trailer for one that's like new, Heritage with brakes. I think it's a 2005 and $6K will buy it.
I have a bunch of buddies with 38's and they handle the water and have a ton of room.

Go to Marine Max ft. myers and type baja .38 special. I spoke to the salesman at marine max and he said the boat is a consignment and the owner is looking for 30k. the .38 is one of my favorite boats. this one even has a/c. i think its a great choice for family boating.

He was willing to let it go for a little less to satisfy his payoff.
If I'd of seen this listing back in January when I wrote the contract on my boat I'd of jumped on it and saved the freight I just paid for an over 2000 mile delivery to TX from NH.

I really like my new boat and love the space, I'm certain you'll be happy with it as your cruiser. I heard many good things about this model from the forums and from people who have friends with them. I just hope yours will get better fuel consumption, mine has 525 SC's and sucks the petrol like there's no tomorrow.
You might consider the Fountain 38 sport cruiser and the Sonic 38's too. I'd of taken any of these models at the right price. All I wanted was a good sized weekender with 6' of headroom, some elbowroom in the cockpit and salon, and a little speed on the water.
I'm sure there are still some great deals to be had out there right now, the market on these boats is slow coming around.
Good luck with your search, and don't be afraid to post your potential purchases here on the forum. I found it to be a tremendous place for getting great insight on my purchase.
I probably had more threads about possible purchases than any member prior, and no one ever grew tired of my inquiries.
See ya,
Kelly

I have been debating back and forth on the 38 special or the 342...Has anybody got the 342 and wished they had went for the 38? I tow from West Louisiana to Destin once a year and have a hard time getting over the whole size difference behind the truck. I know which one I would prefer once anchored out with the wife and two kids.
