Default Whipple Upgrade for 525efi

Does anyone have any feedback on this?
I'm talking about the computer recalibration, not the super charger. Sounds great to me and not very costly. I think I would need to run 91 octane if I choose to do this.

There's a guy up in Bolton Landing on Lake George that's pretty good with Whipples, EFI, etc. He programed 2 engines for me and they came out perfect.

Did any other work need to be done like Razor states?
Or Just plug and go?

I kicked this around on a Donzi forum since it is tempting with the Whipple price drop. I was advised to have the ECU calibrated on a dyno and then again on the water. I also think that the lumpy 525 cam would not be a good choice for a SC engine and the compression should ideally be lowered too. I decided to wait.

I actually read your post/question,and think it looks like a great product!

Upgrading props will prob help to achieve optimal results.

Keep us updated on how it turns out!

I already purchased New Prop. I intend to recal the pcm, but will not be able to run the boat till spring. I have a very reputable local guy that suggested I bump the rev limiter up to 5800 (he does not reccommend 6000 rpm because of the XR weak link). He has a guy to do this, but I'm not sure what he intends to do. I need to talk to him to see if the recal is only for the rev limiter or other stuff like Whipple would do. I will keep you posted.

Please keep the feedback coming

PS: This is ONLY a PCM upgrade and NOT a blower stage 1 kit.

Thanks
Ray

Works fine, but not a lot of top end improvement. Don't know if the same will be the case on the 525EFI. On the 496's a thermostat change is needed.

Actually I would try running the same prop as well.

That reprogram raises the rev limter as well to help use the entire power band of the engine.
