What are the real differences between Mobil 1 15W-50 and V-Twin 20W-50. I saw that advance has the V-Twin on sale. My application is a twin turbocharged carbureted BBC with a flat tappet hydraulic cam. Is there a better fully synthetic oil out there that is a little cheaper. It kinda stings when I think that a full oil change is going to cost me $180.00 a couple times a year. If I have to I will. I know the price to play, just trying to lessen the sting!!!

the v twin oil still has zink&phosferous in it,the regular mobil 1 does not,with a flat tappet cam you need the additives to keep the cam lobes from going flat.i use the brad penn 20w50 oil,it also has the additives.it is about 4.50 per quart.

also the the v-twin oil has a higher effective temp stability , or it can get hotter and still be worth a chit

The new mobil 1 has reduced zinc etc then it used. The vtwin is excellent. Breakdown starts at twice then temps as regular oils since it operates in oil cooled engines.
Brad penn oils are excellent as well and a lot less expensive.

How about the z-rod oil from amsoil in 20-50?

Tyler Crockett also recommended the Brad Penn to me, i`m gonna have to try it this year...

That was gonna be my response as well. All oil has some zinc and phosphorus in it, it has to, otherwise it would be useless! Zinc and Phosphorus are antiwear additives, however, too much of either one can have adverse effects on catalytic converters.

how about castrol 20w50

Is this based on some sort of fact, or is it more info from your super top secret tweaker source?
