Default Truth on Lake Winni Noise Regulations

So i have heard different answers on this subject, bringing my 311 up to the lake this weekend does not have silent thunder anymore has 502s and thru hull exhaust. Some say dont worry I wont get bothered and some say I will. Whats the real deal?? also anything else I should know about any other rules/regs?? I am aware of speed limit... Thanks

Not very friendly.

My wife and I spent many summers on Winni when we lived in NH. Our last vacation there (1996) we towed our 33 Fountain, stock 420's no mufflers , up for a week of fun. Within 20 minutes we were pulled over and asked if we had mufflers. Since there were none installed, we were given a citation.
I then explained we were on the lake for a week and if we got pulled over during that time could we show thew officer that we had already been cited. We were then told that we could be given another ticket 10 minutes later and could not use the boat.
We pulled out about 1 hr after we got there and spent our vacation on Sebago. Only been on the lake twice since, both with rather cold reception. -No longer performance boat friendly (45mph speed limit)

Nice place and we spent many dollars on Winni over the years but unless you live there, they do not want you there.

Biggus summed it up pretty well.

They discourage performance boats from being on the lake. If you have the boat heavily muffled, keep the speed below 40-50, and keep a low profile, you can probably go and have a good time w/o be harassed. I wouldn't even consider dragging a performance boat up there again... In fact, after all the harassment and silly noise/speed limits, I quit going there several years ago and choose to spend my money elsewhere now.

With that said, it is a beautiful lake.

Talking

I've been on the lake for 5 years, I have 502s and never bothered, lots of performance boats still on lake and big motors as well. Just don't do anything stupid and your fine. Speed limit hasn't been an issue as their looking for other offenders. Seem to be more performance boats coming back this year.

You do need to have a boaters license, they lake is great water about 78 degrees now, lots of sand bars to hang out at, have a chart handy to avoid hazards and pay attention to the no wake zones, 150' rule when at speed, good spots to visit are meredith and wolfboro for shops and resteraunts. Lots of haters on the board because of past experiences and the speed limit but it's a great place and getting popular again, there are also speed limit supporters on the board trying to keep you away. Braun bay is real popular hang out as well as paugas bay and the nazwa beach bar and resteraunt.
Have fun.

We have been up there the last three years with no trouble, but I have the older 242 that goes thru the platform and was fine. The most enforcement we saw was around the Nas long idle zone. Go and be happy just watch your markers buy a good laminated map.
