Default most power out of 454 Mark IV ?? N/A

What is some of the most power people have gotten out of a 454 base engine without stroking it?? N/A only, no power adders...

a buddy got 521HP@5350 with flat tappet cams, cant see too much more without roller cams, stock 420 heads 460CI, dont remember hit TQ... I will try to get it..I think thats decent for the parts used and CI

PROVEN POWER not guesses...

I wanna just see what some of the proven combos are that actually work...

454/460/468 CI stock crank/rod sizes..

Maybe "ROOKIE" will chime in. He's running some healthy 468's. Over 600HP N/A pump gas I believe. My guess is 600HP is pretty close to max for a pump gas somewhat user friendly pleasure boat 468CI. To get there, you're gonna need some really good flowing heads, a healthy roller cam, maybe even a solid roller, single plane intake, good exhaust, and spin it to 6000 or more. None of that BS dual plane 650 carb peanut port head 5000RPM RV motor bs that gets spilled out on all the 454 threads.

OR put a blower on it, and follow my builds. 805HP@6000 under 6lbs of boost pump gas HYD roller cammed 468.

Mine are 469's 0.070" over GenV blocks. SRP 212137 pistons 9.7:1, Ultrdyne solid roller cam 252/264 108*LS, Lift IN 0.667"(1.8), EX 0.632"(1.7), JimV (Valako Raceheads) aluminum heads, Ferrea 1.88" Inconel exhaust and Manley 2.30" intake valves, Weiand Stealth intake (floors welded up and ported) old school Holley Barry Grant 800+cfm 4150's and 35*timing.

They dynoed 590HP@6250RPM 565TQ@5200RPM with my old Valako Wedged Merlin steel heads. I put on the aluminum heads and saw 1-2mph so I believe they added about 15hp. I run 89octane, and adjust the valves at the end of each season. They have been great engines for the last few years with no issues.

NO car engines, its easy to make big HP with lots of compression and rpm.... cant run 13:1 in a boat every weekend on pump gas...lol

Basically what I have is 460CI now, with Merlin heads, stock 420 cams and Holley single plane intakes, 800cfm carbs, by speeds comparing to my buddys Mistress and sharing props we think I should be around 480hp now, I wanna see what can get me to 550hp easily without breaking the bank and redoing shortblocks, mine are fine and have nice parts in them, by biggest gains would come from a roller custom cam, my heads are good and intake is good..

I dont wanna spin em past 5400 tops..

sorry man but the best bang for a buck would be a set of huffers..single carb 250's..if your worried about mpg and stay out of boost and still get good mpg's whyle cruising look for a set of prochargers..prochargers will give you well over 600 hp and about 10-12 mph..
