Default Garmin hooked into Smartcraft?

Does anyone know if I can connect my Garmin 740s into a 2002 496 (8.1) Smartcraft to show coolant temp, fuel flow etc?

Can the 2 be connected thru the NEMA 2000 setup?

Thanks

The engine will have a nema connector or a different connector?

Sorry for the newbie questions. This is my first boat.

Thanks

I hooked my pair of '04 525's into the Garmin 740s but had to use the Merc Monitor to convert the Canbus to NMEA 2000 for the Garmin to read. Took a fair amount of reading and emails to Merc to gather the unwritten details. Not all that sure it was worth it in the end. Gives me redundancy in the event of a gauge error. Will provide Codes in event of sensor failure and you can add an audible alarm for sensor inputs outside of ranges you set up. Be prepared to get pissed off in the process

Thanks for the help!

It looks like I'll just buy the Garmin fuel flow sensor and hook that to the GPS.
