Unhappy inner transom plate

Good evening to everyone looking for some guidance in replacing a inert transom plate on a baja 235 with an alpha one,the inner plate is cracked at the steering bolt will I have to remove the engine to replace the transom plate or just the alpha ?

Both will need removed to replace the innner transom plate.

Check for flatness of the transom alot of times the transom is not flat and thats what causes them to break. Hope it's not in need of a new transom.

Not trying to hijack your thread but are a Alfa and a B1 inner transom sheld the same?

No what causwd the break was a bad steering cable and the wheel was forced causing the crack at the join

I changed mine without removing the engine. The engine did need to be un bolted and jacked around to get the job done, and it was a PITA, but I got it done. Mine has through hull exhaust only.
