Default Oil filled bilge - need advise please !

Hey guys - hoping for some help, first trip out this season, didn't see water once last summer. Took boat out today, fresh oil and filter, fresh fuel - boat ran great, water pressure good, temp good and oil pressure good. Stopped just to check bilge and noticed oil, checked levels and was low, topped it off (1qt) ran some more, not hard at all, mostly 45mph - checked later and noticed alot more oil in bilge and now nothing on on dip stick but oil pressure still good, put another qt in and still didn't register on stick ( also have a manual guage showing good aswell ) called it a day to prevent problems.

I did just do a oil and filter change but didn't see anything leaking around filter or anywhere else. Now I have to dump the bilge full of oil.

Any help will be much appreciated !

Yes - only when running. Can't visually see it leaking anywhere.

Thanks for the quick response !

Not knowing your set up - SC lines ? Rear main seal ? Timing cover leaking ? Oil pan rusted ? Oil cooler external crack or where the seems are (welds)

Maybe put a tracer die in your motor oil - run the motor then use the those tracer black lights to see motor oil leak / drip line(s). We use a product called I think called Tracer. I would have to double check on the exact name.

Well I may have found the issue - looks like where i had my manual oil gauge installed it cracked the broke when I moved it- now have the threads are still in the motor ! I'm not 100% sure but it came off too easy and it looked liked oil had ran down from there .

Now I have to figure out how to get the broken off threads out of there with out getting crap in the motor ! Alaso, if this was the culprit would it have shot oil all over the place? I ran my fingers around the area and there was deffinatley oil around that are for sure and down below it !!

Any ideas how to get the threads out ?

Put some grease on an easy out and send her in there. Grease should catch any filings that may be created while chewing it in.

+1 and if you have merc special 101 grease that's thick use that. Also use a flex line to your gauge to check your oil pressure, not the solid pipe line.. Like somewhat the same line that compression gauges uses. Most likely that wouldn't have happened as what broke.

Thanks guys- do you think that could have caused me to loose all my oil-? it was still attached till I moved it to see if loose then broke off !

What size easy out do you think, or do they have a one size fits most
