Looking at the pull up or pop up cleats. Their for a new install and wondered if the push button spring loaded work flawlessly as well as how the retractable/pull up ones work. Im leaning towards the pull out ones unless there not worthy.

I did a quick search but didn't see anything regarding one vs other.

The push button pop ups will stick once in a while especially if any sand gets in them, but for the most part they work perfectly fine.
Never had pull up ones, but several friends have them and never seen with an issue.

I have had both and have installed both the Accon pop up and pull up flush cleats (8 inch). No problems with either but prefer the pull up for the built in drain so that a plastic drain cup is not required. You can see the difference on Accon Marine's site.

One of my popups sticks about once a year, the button sticks in.

the cup takes up room and with a drain hose that some use sometimes not attractive depending on location

They can be get a bit tweaked with too much stress, both pull-up and pop-up.

I had lines on my bow when I pulled out of the ramp 2 seasons back. Too much wax on the bow, and one slid off, got caught under the trailer tire, and yanked the pull-up cleat pretty good. It snapped the line, but also pulled my cleat out of whack. I was able to fix it, but they can go have issues.
Prevention: ALL lines come off the cleats before the boat comes out of the water.

Never tow anything from either kind as well.

Brian, just curious, was it an Accon and what size? Hopefully never need to know but what did it do to the cleat and how did you fix it?

My cleat was not an Accon. They are no longer available, which is why I had to fix it, or replace all of them on the boat.
I heated it up a little, and coaxed it back into shape with some force.

FWIW, I LOVE these cleats. No one else can figure out how to use them so I have to teach lessons for newbs on my boat. However, you use them just like any other cleat, and you don't have to worry about the lines overwhelming the cleat.

I do like the looks!
