Default Arneson on A single engine cat?

I hear the Arnson Serface drive will work on a single engine 27' cat. I also keep hearing it will not work. Anybody have a single engine cat, especially an Eliminator Daytona or Speedster with this drive?

Offshore surface style propellers and skegs go thru the water similarly no matter what brand.......so there's no reason why it "won't work".

Lots of single engine cats and V's swinging offshore cleaver props on Arneson, #6, M8, and INDY drives.

Might as well gain the strength, reliability, speed and value of the Arneson!

I hope you gain some helpful knowledge on exact setup! If not I look forward to hearing about your experience!

I know of one installed on a 29 Force cat, I believe they gave up and replaced it with an imco bravo type drive. Could be lack of setup time. If your hull is notched it could throw a curve ball at you.

Be prepared for a read. There was also one installed on a 22 daytona.

Howard Arneson has a single engine boat with an Arneson Drive that moves pretty fast.

I hear on a 25 Talon the #7M runs awesome..... Hopefully Rik will chime in... Some say the trick is to run a Chopper prop instead of a cleaver. Been thinking about doing the conversion myself, just got to find the time to research it.

Wouldn't the better question be how does a surfacing drive work on a single motor cat?

Thanks everybody for your ideas/suggestions & posts. I believe we are going to go with a #6 drive for our boat this winter. Love that Arneson Drive tho.

There have been a few different single engine cats with arnesons. I do believe there was a certain 26 that put up some big numbers, however during testing in a turn it got up on the prop and spun in the turn. I don't remember all the details this was a while back.
#6 is going to be your best bet.
