Thumbs up New Superboat 30 Y-2K in Boating magazine....

Just paging thru the mag and noticed a short article on the new Superboat 30 footer.

30 feet long
7 foot beam
powered by Merc 496 HO
Bravo One 24" prop
5000 rpm

70.6 mph!!!

That's cooking for a single engine 30 footer. The article says it's a twin step boat? Is this true?? I didn't think Superboat built a stepped hull boat.

Oh, and it got 1.9 mpg at WOT. That's really good!!! At 3500 rpm it ran 47.5 mph and got 2.1 mpg (and that's nauticle miles per gallon, it comes to 2.2 and 2.4 in statute miles).

Maybe this should be on my list of "next" boats when I'm ready??

Foul Yes Superboat has made stepped bottoms for a while now. Even the 24 comes with a step now. It is a very narrow boat but man can they handle the rough stuff SO well. They are very well made boats for sure.

Superboat's are great. I've had two 24's. I'm planning to move up to a 30' one day. Great no frills boat. But too many people are preoccupied with spending 3 times as much for a lot of gingerbread. A Superboat is to a Cigarette or an Outerlimits what a Camaro is to a Ferrari. It's a working man's boat that can keep up with or beat the expensive boats with the right person behind the wheel.

Other Adds have priced it at $64,950,
I tested the first with the 496HO with JimH
and John, read 75 on speedo witch the owner said was
2mph off, we were turning one of my labbed 26's and the 3
of us weight aprox. 795lbs

the boat weighs around 4500 rigged, has complete cockpit liner
check it out at www.superboatpowerboats.com or email me with any questions you may have.

that is some serious big air!!!

FYI John is also a nice guy. He steered me away from a pair of engine I was looking at for a 34' scarab which to me at the time sounded great, but john knew better. He probably saved me a few thousand $$$ and a huge headache.

I always liked the look of the Y2K...very innovative.

There's a Y2K down at Falcon HP Marine with a Pro Charged 500HP that's running in the 90's ! Handles extraordinarily well !
