Hi guys,
Quick question.... I have been wondering about poker runs for many seasons now and I just replied to a post that made me really want to get more educated. Are poker runs all fast boats? If I show up with a 70 mph boat will I just be laughed at? Please be honest... I have never been to one and only see YouTube videos with triple digit boats. I just started a business and have a lot invested, so my nova will have to do for the next season or two (hate payments) and I really want to go to one or two poker runs and start meeting people who enjoy the same obsession as me, but don't want to be the "Slow guy" everybody ignores. Help a Poker Run Newbie out! Thanks guys! Brian From Cleveland.

Join LEOPA, look at doing Spring Run, or Thunderfest, or Fall Run or all of them. Also, Buffalo Poker Run, as Padraig said, is not to miss. Buffalo is a big run and sensory overload if you have never done a run before. Not saying it cant be done as a first run, our first Poker Run was Lake Cumberland 4 years back when it was at full tilt! People are great, introduce yourself, and make some new friends before/during the event. Ask questions and never worry or compare your boat, be proud and run it no matter the speed. Poker Runs are not races and you run with boats at a speed your comfortable with. We have done no less than 4 runs per season since we purchased our boat, we make a trip out of every event. Easy enough, you have no excuse now, look forward to meeting you at an event!

I do them in my boat!! I run mid 70's. You will find a lot of boats run in the 65-70 mph range. You will always get the guys that go balls to the wall, but they are gone in the first few min. You will always find a group of boats to hang with. They are crazy fun!!
If all fails just skip a stop or two and get a good dock spot.
