Default Merc 454 Water Circulation Pump

Guys,

I am looking to do some Engine updates - could use a recommendation on replacement water circ pumps....any decent quality aluminum units that will bolt right on would be appreciated.

engines are closed cooling - carbed basic units.

Jegs or whatever numbers would be ideal.

Thanks

Swampy

Sierra makes them for Merc believe it or not., Its is true.

I should have a new order of circ pumps coming in about 2 weeks all made in the USA and all Marine rated. I order 25 to 40 at a time depending on what date of the year it is.

Currently sold out. I have not had any issues with these USA made circ pumps and have been using them for the past 5 years, Again they are made for 100 % marine use. . FYI.

Why wouldn't an automotive type pump work in a closed cooling system?

Just wondering out loud.

Problem with that swampy is the outside of an aluminum pump will corrode pretty quickly with boat sitting in the ocean alot..

The only hard anodized aluminum pumps I could find where for small blocks.

different materials used. Most impeller designs are bidirectional and the blade configuration. The internal bearing used is different and stouter as well. S S backing plate for a jist of this
