Default Need help with prop

I have a 28ft Emerald Stiletto with a steptted notch haul an 454 bored 30 over with dart heads an intake Howard's custom grind cam speed pro pistons forged crank erson lifters an bravo 1 outdrive that has a Hydromotive Intimidator Q-IVX Four Blade 23 Pitch RightHand prop on it. Now here's where I'm having trouble I trim down on both motor an tabs get on plane which is about 20mph then start speeding up an once I get to 40mph which is 4,000rpms it's like the prop blows out an just spins an Rpm shoot up to 5,500rpm then I have to slow back down to 40 an that's it please someone help me

Just reading your post again, 4000rpm at 40mph. you might be just way under propped and breaking it loose. I would do the slip numbers if I were you. something is not right

I agree that sounds like the rpm is way high for that speed

Brovo1 4 blade 26s might be a good choice for you.

At what point in the trim process are you lifting the tabs, why are the tabs necessary ?? have tried it without them getting on plane

I'm lifting the tabs once on plan an I have to pull the throttle way back so it doesn't over rev the motor.. I use the tabs sense they are there an it helps get on plane a little bit faster.. now I have tired not using them an it takes just a little bit longer for the Front end to come down

Check the drive and make sure its going all the way down/in and not just going buy the gauge or indicator, then pull the prop off and pull the hub out and take a look
