Have been looking at a keyless go system for my boat, however, there are very few manufactures out there that offer them. I ran into this today, called the company and plan to order tomorrow. My question is will this work with my boat and are there any downsides to this application. Thanks

I wonder how close the key has to be to start it. Would hate to have someone accidentally start it with people behind the boat

Great point, it looks like an average range for a passive RFID is 3 to 5 feet but I will check tomorrow.

I wouldn't want to be in the middle of nowhere and have that thing crap out on me. A plain old key is pretty much bulletproof.

Just throwing it out there, but that module does not look very "marinized" Hate for that thing to corrode and you not be able to start your boat.

Stick with the keys, zero cool factor when the system stops working in the middle of the lake.

I would look into the ones used on ski boats. I have seen them where you enter a code, then you can start the boat. You do not need to worry about losing the key float, or someone accidentally starting the boat.

I agree with Perlmudder. Bought my boat with the code instead of key ignition. No key to lose or forget. Enter code push Run for the blower. Hit start. Bam! Then push Stop and have a cool one. No brainer system which is perfect for me.

How do you run the "bilge blower" prior to starting

There is a separate RUN button from the START button. The switch is wired so that when you push RUN the blower turns on and stays on while the engine is running. Also you can't accidentally hit the Start button. The RUN button has to be pushed first.
