Default bilge pump replacement advice

I have both Motors out of my 32 fountain fever and trying to decide what to do as far as bilge pumps if I should replace the originals or leave them be as they seem to work fine (in that case they'll fail the first time out this year). I dont really like the new rule's that cycle on every 2 minutes as the boat sits in my shop year round with the batteries on and they don't need to run all the time.

32s have been known to take water through the back vents and sink at the dock, motors are out...go new. I was unaware of new rules requiring them to cycle every 2 minutes...is that true?

When I had my last boat ('02 35) at Eddie Young's shop, I had him install 2 new pumps. Originals worked fine, but they were 13 years old. Time for new while in there. I believe he installed Johnson Automatic's like these....

Cheap insurance if engines are out.

Definitely change the pumps. I went with Rule 2000 pumps and float switches about two years ago.

I went with rule2000s with my motors out. They are internal sensing.

I don't mind float switches I just don't see the need for them to cycle all the time. Guess I'll do a set with external floats

Mine didn't cycle. Not sure I've seen ones that do.

I'm the same. Boat I had did the cycle every 2 minutes thing. Drove me nuts. I keep boat on the trailer. Hanging out on home on the deck, you'd hear the buz every two minutes. Doing something outside, buzz...silence...buzz. Last straw was when I was cleaning outside of boat, pump cycled while I walked by it, got a quick squirt of bilge water on me,was not enough water in bilge to trigger a float.

Gone !
