Default 33 Wellcraft Scarab AVS Purchase advice/help

First post to the forums! I'm looking for some help/advice. Im looking at purchasing a 33 AVS Scarab. I've done some research prior to this post so know about the smaller cockpits etc. of the Scarab, but I also know they are a good rough water and fast hull. What I'm looking at is a 2000 with 525's with 153 hours. The boat is around $60k. Says it has stereo upgrade, and interior is good condition. Is this a good buy, what do I need to look for upon inspection? I Haven't been able to find any other scarab's with the 525's. What should this boat run in speed? Anyone else on the fence of selling anything comparable in that price range? Thanks in advance.

For that money, if you’re not very experienced, sounds like you should have the boat professionally surveyed.

525efi's or SC's? K-planes? Ext. steering?, what drives? That's the stuff that costs $$, Stereo's are cool, but.......

I have owned 3 of them over the years. 525 would be a rare package, possibly re-powered?. That power should get you about 83-86 depending on props. The hull is very capable performer and rides very well. I dont believe the cockpit is much smaller than anything else comparable

Make sure you check the transom. Some were not sealed so well at exhaust cutouts, and other points of intrusion.

What other options does it have? toilet is porta potty or porcelain vacuflush? windscreen is aluminum or acrylic? power bolsters? bolsted back seat or bench? shore power? trailer included? graphics are standard or upgraded? What is the condition of the clear/graphics on the foredeck? Many of them will have some peeling of at least the clear by now.

If My memory serves me correctly, Powerboat Magazine named the 33' Scarab as Boat of the Year, when that boat was introduced. Good information from Scarabman above. I am interested in learning more about Scarabs too.

It is re-powered. Previous owner put the 525's in it. It has CMI headers, toilet is porcelain vacuflush, the windscreen is aluminum, power bolsters, bolsted backseat, no shore power and its sitting on a 2013 aluminum triple axle trailer.

Should be a fun ride with the 525s. They are a good handling boat. Not that you asked, but in my opinion, 60k is probably a little high. Not terrible if it is a a must have boat though. Let me know if you have any other questions. I have 15 yrs of seat time and wrenching on 33 AVS's
