Default Another Cam recommendation

Not very happy with the performance of this reground cam so I am looking for something to push my single 30 ft Advantage better than what I have. I currently have a Crane 741 in my Summit Racing cart to buy but before I pull the trigger I wanted to see if someone had something better to suggest. I have read a ton of threads on here on cams and the 741 is very popular it seems. My motor is a 555 with just over 10:1 compression and has some massaged 088 heads with a single plane intake. My main concern is reversion as I have Imco Thumper exhaust. Would love to have headers but just not in the cards for right now. I also have a step nose Gen VI cam.

Yes I mainly boat on Lake Tahoe at 6200 ft elevation. Have to stay N/A due to no room for blower pulleys. Trying to make the best of what I have to work with.

I did install it @6* advanced when it was a 548 and got some very minimal signs of reversion. Since I rebuilt it this winter I installed it only 2 degrees advanced and am seeing reversion plus not very happy with the performance even though it dyno'd well as a 548 at 6* advance.

What are you not happy with about current cam? I'm not in love with the current cam specs. Single pattern cam with poor flowing 088 exhaust ports and restrictive exhaust. 6-10 degrees more exhaust duration than intake will help your setup. IMO......741 cam is too small for a 10:1 555ci. It should help with reversion though.

Well, we did mention turbo. What’s the current cam specs? Edit: Nevermind. The cam card pic finally loaded.

I’m no engine builder, but everything seems kinda small for the size engine that you’ve got. Getting power at elevation is tough as you’ve got to pack in tons of air to get any power and your set up is on the mild side for even a 502. My guess is that you’ll need better heads and a bigger cam to get enough air for the power that you want.

This is the only cam I have had for this boat and engine so just looking to see what might be a better choice with minimal reversion with my crappy exhaust. I also feel the 741 is too small and that is why I am asking for suggestions. May just end up getting a custom ground done as that has been my best outcome on past motors.
