Default Keith Eickert mechanical fuel pump issues

Finally got the new motor fired and started tuning a little and found that I only am showing 4-5 psi fuel pressure...it is the fuel pump mounted on the water pump style and I have the Keith Eickert fuel pump "upgrade" that replaces the head of the stock pump

What pressure should I be seeing at idle and WOT?? I thought I should see 7 psi all the time with this pump especially at idle

I have 1/2 inch pickups in the tank to -8 an lines to the imco tank selector valve to a hardin FST filter to the pump then out to the carbs...all lines are -8 an up to the carb where they are hardlined from the fuel distribution block to the carbs

Any ideas?? anyone experience this before??

thanks

Stewart

The psi is set in the lower part I believe.

I ran that pump many years ago. I think 6psi is what I saw ? I really can't remember exactly. Sorry. If you have no less than 5psi at WOT I believe you are fine.

I was seeing 4-5 idle and it dropped to as low as 2 at cruise.....never made it to WOT as that scared me with fuel pressure that low and didn't want to chance a lean condition...I have far too much coin in this motor to melt it down hahaha

when you say pressure is set in the lower part...could you elaborate?? nothing at all came in the box with this thing as far as instructions or anything so I'm kinda shooting from the hip....are you saying that pressure is adjustable on these?? I thought they were a bolt on and go kind of thing???

thanks

No, pai is set in the lower part of the pump Ibelieve. Not the KE top half.

You have a fuel supply issue if falling to 2psi. That is a fact Jack,

Yup, no less than 5psi.
7 +/- 1 psi usually ideal,

idle thru WFO

With mine, one shows 9 and the other shows 7 at idle. They are supposed to self regulate between 6-8psi. I replaced the uppers as well because I was chasing so many problems. I got varying pressures at wot with them. Sometimes they would hold a steady 6, other times they’d fall right off. Not a tank issue, each engine runs out of its own tank and they both do it. I’ve also replaced everything, the KE’s are next. Personally, I think they’re junk.
