Default Longer hose from recirc pump to thermostat needed.

I put on the taller airgap manifold on the 509 and the oem 2” molded hose unit just won’t stretch that far, so I’m looking for a longer/taller one. Any sources? I tried Napa auto and found something close but no cigar. This one came off of a 454 MPI mag and worked fine with the flatter dual plane manifold.

Baja, I had the same problem with my Hardin Marine Intake. After exhausting all resources I found Hardin made a stainless barb/barb fitting and used 2 standard hoses. I used the upper from one and the bottom from the other cut to length where the clamps were in a convenient location. Ended up doing the same for the hose from the oil cooler to the t-stat housing. Here is a picture. Hope this helps.

That doesn’t look so bad at all. What size coupler did you use? 2”?

Hardin has the one for the recirculating pump hose, it is not in the catalogue so you need to call and ask it's stainless. The one from the oil cooler I picked up on line and it is brass that one is 1-1/4" I believe. The one from Hardin I am not sure of the size you will need to measure.

Get a hose for a Merc 525SC. I believe they are a couple inches longer.
Hard to tell in the pic, so maybe have someone verify.
I believe Rambunctious posted that he is winterizing his 525SC's tomorrow, so maybe he could measure for you.

A 525SC hose worked perfect on a 7.4L where we replaced the standard cast iron truck manifold with a Edelbrock RPM Air Gap.

Take your hose to your local hydraulic service shop and match up a replacement. They have all kinds of hoses and usually at a reasonable cost.

Here's one I found in the SF area.... https://www.pirtekusa.com/locations/pirtek-sfo/

I went to Home Depot and bought a threaded piece of galvanized pipe, painted outside black, two hose clamps and done.

Any piece of pipe/tubing will work as long as it is barbed or threaded/ Don't use anything smooth like PVC. That is what my buddy tried at first and ended up washing down his engine compartment a couple different times! That is when I hunted down the longer hose for him.

Perfect. You and griff had the answer I was looking for. I figured some engine had to come from the factory with the taller intake I just didn’t know which one. I may use the Home Depot nipple trick to get me through the weekend.
