Default Sterling, Crockett, etc.? Which engine rebuilder to choose...

So I have a pair of supercharged big block bowties with a few hours on them. Bottom end and heads are fine, but valvetrain needs to be re-worked. Whoever does them will likely get the both full engines so they can be disassembled, re-worked, tested and tuned. I'm in Michigan and there happens to be some of the best engine shops around not too far in any direction. I definitely would like them to be done over the winter so I can be running and in the water come May or June at the latest.

Wondering what all your opinions are for a rebuilder. I'm mostly between Sterling and Frank from Scorpion at this point. But I have a few other small recommendations as well. I know Sterling especially is going to be expensive, and I don't know if they'll work with what I've got or want to do a full rebuild due to wanting reliability associated with their name. Crockett tuned them before but I've heard on and off things about his availability and communication habits.

Let me know what you all think. Thanks.

It may be tough to get on the books since everyone wants their work done during the winter.

I have had great success (not luck) with Ben at Precision Power in Spring Lake Mi. He's been doing mine for over 15 years, I have yet to have problem...never blown a engine pushing over 1200hp.

I can vouch for Frank @ Scorpion... he’s a great guy that does great work and goes above and beyond for his customers.
As far as Sterling... I’ve been on 3 different runs and his own personal boat never finishes due to breaking down, now that’s bad advertisement!

Crockett lol. Be Serious. I had a Top Gun with a set of 750hp Dry sump sterlings and was happy. Heard great things about Scorpion for sure. Eddie Young as well. Travel to Cleveland and you can find
Dean Gellner at Gellner Engineering. Gets my vote as well as many others im sure.
