I just hit a bit of a snag. I started rebuilding my 600 SCIs this past fall. Instead of buying the parts for both engines all at the same time, I was buying the parts when needed. I'm now in the process of replacing the lifters in engine #2 and and find out Crane no longer is manufacturing part number 26535-16. I believe Johnson is making a direct replacement for this lifter. I hate to use different lifters in each engine, but at this point I'm out of luck. Anyone know what the Johnson part number is, or better yet, anyone have a set of the Crane lifters on the shelf?

Johnson is the best. I wouldn't worry about having different lifters. Just be sure to check pushrod length as different lifters often have different plunger heights.

Thanks for posting this Rookie. I'm not sure if they are going to really have this lifter in stock. Most of these companies drop ship from a warehouse, and I found another online retailer like this, this morning. I tried ordering and was told, "Sorry, this is a discontinued item". Everyone is out of stock. If I can find a phone\ number on their site, I'll call and confirm.

It looks like the Johnson part number is 2510R. It is supposed to be a direct drop in, but yes, I'll need to confirm the plunger is the same as the Crane.

A while ago i went on a nutzo lifter look ip crusade. Lol.

Ha- Yes I read this last night. After all of my long talks with Bob Madera back in the day, I've always been scared to used a little wheel lifter on a performance cam. Do you know anyone using the stock GM lifter on the 700 SCI? I replaced the cams in my 600 SCI to match the tune in my ECU's. Someone got the wise idea to put a 700 tune on my engines, not a smart move. So my cams are now a little bigger than the 600 cams. Valako set up my heads with 180 lb seat spring pressure, so quite a bit more than the stock set up.

Were those your Mercury heads at the shop a week or so ago he was doing some work on?

Yes, he's working on the second set right now. It's going to be a busy spring getting everything back together. How is your boat coming along?

I've used the 2510R on a bunch of engines. Plunger height is definitely different and you'll need to resize pushrods.
