Default Scored / Grooved Gen 7 Sea Water Pump

There appears to be several repair kits out there with wear plates.

Which have you used and prefer ? Why ?

I am dealing with 1 pump that has wear (a groove) on the body, not end plate.

496 brass gen 7 water pump. repair kit for badly damaged pump body. If your brass body is badly grouved and fails to pump. our kit makes pumps work again without buying new pump. Rubber Impellers W/P Mercruiser Impeller Repair Kit $24.95. IMPELLERS W

I've been using these kits since 2014. Once you purchase the wear plate kit you only need to buy the impeller from then on out. My stainless wear plates look great. I change impeller every 2 seasons. 100 or so hours. Impeller looks fine and could easily go a 3rd year.

Thanks Ryan.

I did some reading on those. Some early versions had impeller separation issues. Seemed like it was fixed but on another boat site just this past week, a new impeller of theirs separated.

SInce I’m dealing with just the shaft side end being grooved, wonder if I csn install just that plate with stock impeller ? That doesn’t right but worth the question I guess.

No

If you look around there are 2 kits, one has a gasket/shim spacer so you can use the stock impeller. I just kept the shim and replaced this kit every couple years so you can use the stock impellers.

Or say fk it and just buy a new pump housing and reuse the pump cover with the stainless plate.

Been trying to get a hold of these guys for weeks. Voicemails and emails with nothing in return. I gave up.

I hit the Louisiana fishing link shown below at the website and at that page get the second snip. Same guy??
The repair kit website has a bunch of dead links and missing photos. Seems poorly maintained.

SB at this point why not the Mercury kit?
Also, did that pump exhibit low water pressure? Or just PM?
I think mine were way worse than that last time I was in them. No pressure issues yet.
