Default Long bed vs Short bed…

How much of a difference is their between the towing with these two, assuming they are both 3500s SRW of course. I’ve always been told the long beds have more stability, but I’m a fan of the way short beds look. Plus short bed will fit in the garage.

It's a big difference. Go with the longbed.

I have towed with a long bed for the last 15+ years, and won't go back. My current truck is a 2018 Ram 3500 SRW CC LB. It is not my daily driver though. I have an F150 CC SB for that as well as a beater older Lexus.

I like the long bed myself but I also use my truck for a truck. It's not a daily driver and a lot of times I need the room in the bed.

Dam think I could get more I's in there! LOL

I like long bed if its a dually. Especially for towing goosnecks. Short beds are better if your going to daily it. Ive towed heavy on both 350 fords. 4 door 1 long bed dually and one short bed single.

I have a 3500 DRW now and bought it because I was driving company vehicle to and from work, well they took that away so I was driving my 3500 or Camaro SS into work and they both aren’t great daily’s, not to mention I don’t care to drive the SS unless it’s warm and dry out. For now I’m driving our daughters Malibu that we got her, but once she turns 16 I won’t have that luxury. So I’m thinking of going back to SRW. Curious if I can get by with a 2500 LB.

Long bed for me. You can barely get a quad or dirtbike in a SB!!

I run a short bed (6.5' length) because with an extended cab that's what fits in my garage. Agree that other than storage concerns or looks (subjective anyway), a long bed is more useful.

Some short beds are *really* short, like 5', at least in half-tons, but you're not hauling heavy in that anyway, hopefully.

Ive had both and I wont go back to a short bed.

A short bed does have more maneuverability in tight spots, but the long bed is more stable and I do allot of highway towing.

I have a short bed because it's easier to maneuver plowing snow, and I have plenty of trailers if I need to haul something that won't fit in the bed. But if not for plowing I'd have a long bed.
