Have they been rebuilt recently? Any big pieces of metal on them? Are those plugs pictured from uppers or lowers?

You have pieces not fuzz, you need to inspect your gears immediately. To get that kind of buildup, your teeth have flexed so much the hardened surface is coming off. Been there and it's not fun. I had my drive rebuilt several times by AADS and after break in you will see fuzz, You can rub it between your fingers and not feel any texture. I just pulled my magnets to change my oil last weekend and they actually came out clean after 2 seasons. I had my gears cryo'd during the last rebuild, I highly recommend it after seeing how clean my magnets are.

Good advice being given here. You better have them looked at.

These came off a drive that was failing and had to be idled in.

Cris-cross Apple Sauce.

It's just a matter of time before you turn your new fluid into chunky apple sauce. It's time to pull them apart and inspect for the parts that are failing.

Thanks Gents. Anyone have any suggestions as to a shop in the Houston-san antonio-austin area they could recommend?

i just bought the boat i dont think they have been rebuilt recently. Plugs are from the lowers. I’ll ask my tech about big pieces.

Surprised people are giving opinions on plug readings without smearing the metal in your finger tips to see what you got. I’ve pulled plugs like that prior to our rebuilds…looked worse than it was. Would smear it in my fingers and it dissolved.

it’s hard to tell in pics while metal is all piled up. Just my 0.02.
