Default Oil cooler / power steering cooler

What have you done to either upgrade or even move one of these? Is there something smaller out there that serves the same purpose? These sorta get in the way of my front mounts and ride what I consider dangerously close to the mount. My Cafe’ only has one engine with steering ( external hydraulic ) and the other does not have steering.

Any suggestions? Thanks!

I bought larger ones and the only place i had to mount them was the center stringers below the engines. They make plate style coolers that mount to the bellhousing. You could mount the tube style there too.

that’s exactly what I’m sorta wanting to do. Do you have a source for mounts to put them on the back above the bellhousing by chance?

I bought my stuff from CP Performance. Hardine Marine carries a lot of the same stuff.

Look into an oil thermostat if you are going with a bigger or more efficient cooler and keeping the same power. My oil temp barely made 120 when i bypassed my thermostat.

It's probably been there for almost 40yrs and Mercury has ten of thousands out there similar to yours.
Personal opinion is I wouldn't fix what's not broken, unless you're doing a re-power.

I agree with that but I’m doing a repower / rebuild over the winter and would like to just relocate them to the back of the bellhousing or something is all.

I have plate style coolers on my Cafe mounted in the bell housing. CP has the bell housings with coolers, they are offered in 8, 13, and 15 plates both aluminum and stainless. This will eliminate your oil cooler, and trans coolers, you can also use if for a power steering cooler if you do not have transmissions. https://www.cpperformance.com/p-1249...using-kit.aspx

If you look at bravo style 525 sc setups the cooler mounts sideways off the top 2 bolts of the bell housing. This is the oil cooler only...the PS cooler is tiny and mounts off of the motor mount on the port side of the engine. I will be selling my entire setup off of mine as soon as I get it off if you would be interested? Only a single engine but gets you halfway there! Hahaha I will be selling the stock thermostatic oil control, cooler, mounts/hoses. Not sure what I'm doing with my PS cooling yet but it's likely I'll be replacing that as well. Nothing wrong with any of it just upgrading to get my oil temps down as they creep up on my when running hard however it's a 540 with a 14-71 so it was kinda expected to happen lol
