Just like all the Speed on the Water articles it`s all about the folks with the big bucks.
Those guys don`t have to try and get a spot they just for fork over $2500 at early registration and get a sweet spot none of us poor smucks could ever get.
Mr. Phil is right, I see your point now Phil, a run for us regular folks/gearheads where you can`t buy your way with $$, a level playing field.

The late Chuck Beecher coined it years ago:
"It's all about BIG DlCK poker runs."
The hobbyist and DIY'er has been priced out of the more popular runs.
Years back, I towed my 37AT, ~900 miles from VA to MI for Boyne Thunder. It was a run I'll never forget. They had expanded entries with dockage that was not immediately located in the center of things, so logistics were a little bit extra. But it was worth it.

:Nothing stopping anyone from doing their on fun runs. You got friends: plot a course, pick a date, gather up a few boats, and go have a blast. The logistics of these massive runs makes them expensive to put together. And lets not forget Boyne support charities. Is it not the organizers responsibility to raise as much money for charity as possible?
