Default Hour Meter connection

I'm finally getting around to hooking up a pr. of hour meters to my motors.
One post on the meter is for ground and the other is a + terminal that I want to connect to the coil (the meters are mounted in the engine compartment).
Anyone see any problem in going directly to the coil for the signal to the meter? I'm worried that connecting directly to the coil will "lessen" the signal to the MSD and thus weaken the spark to the motor.
Any suggestions??

No, this won't be a problem. If you should happen to leave your ignition switch on, your hour meter will continue to run-even if the engine is not running. If this will be a problem, wire the meter through a hobbs switch.

How does the hobbs switch work?
Its always bothered me that my stereo is adding hours to my motor!

Your stereo should be wired to your Assesory side of the switch, your hour meter should be wired to the on side.

I have a separate Stereo/ assesory toggle. It's not wired to the key.

I called MSD after I posted my question and was told not to connect anything to the coil as long as I was using their 7 series box.
I was told to connect to the red (+) terminal on the box and I would get a 12v. switched signal.
FYI and mine.
