OT: Probably a big reason why soccer is not a big hit in the US...

You've seen the news stories and analysis pieces, all wondering how soccer (or "football" as those foreign types call it) just doesn't seem to catch on in the US, at least on a professional level. I think I have an explaination.
Let's be clear - the vast majority of sports in the good ol' US of A are watched by men. Usually accompanied by a frosty beverage or two, and possibly grilled meat of some sort. Not to mention potato chips. I think that's a reasonable assumption.
Now, we've got our red-blooded American male, cold beer and hot bratwurst in hand, looking for a suitable sporting event to watch on the tube.
This ain't what he's lookin' for.

Nor is the attached image. Thus, no soccer in the 'States.
It just ain't happenin'.
