Default Arizona Speed / CMI Exhaust

I'm looking for some feedback / input on Arizona Speeds
Throttlebody, ECU & Flame Arrestor package claiming an increase of 25 hp for approx $1000. I'm considering adding it to my 525 EFI. Worth it or not? Cheap horsepower for the the dollar but is there any noticeable difference in fuel mileage, throttle response or top end? All responses welcome. Can anyone suggest a better way to spend $1k for performance goodies?

Also looking for the pros & cons of CMI's switchable exhaust vs mufflers. How many EFI owners opted for it vs those that passed & why?

ASM does some good work but I think that it must be a pretty optimistic 25 horsepower increase. The increase must come from turning the engine at a higher rpm (increasing the rev limit). You will probably have to reprop to get the increased performance (lower pitch).

I have a hard time believing that much more than 3 to 5 horsepower will come from the bigger throttle body and air filter ( I doubt that the stock units are restricting performance much).

My suggestion would be to purchase the reprogrammed ECM and then purchase and add the filter and throttle body later. The ECM may make a difference but I think installing the throttle body and filter (at a later date) would show a very minor performance improvement.

Good Luck

The throttle body is the main power increase. Spark is already maximizied, although it can be cleaned up a bit and optimizied to keep the transom cleaner, better fuel economy. The motor falls after 5250rpm for power so going to 5600 makes approx. 20hp less.

Thanks Dennis & Dustin, I've put the responsibility on AZ Speed to show me where the H.P. is at the Super Tune Kit or the Throttle Valve so we'll see what they have to say.

Actually, I re-read your post. I don't think there's much power left in the 525. It dynos over 525, I saw between 530-545hp, 540 under steady state. They can't recal the ECU and the theres no ignition upgrades, so it would just be a low temp stat, TB and flame arrestor. I was thinking of the 500HP EFI when I answered earlier, sorry. Let me know how it works out. Flame arrestor is waste, no power increase, maybe the TB can increase the air flow.

Thanks,
Dustin

Gentlemen,

Still no reply from my friends @ AZ Speed??

Dustin I appreciate you giving my thread a 2nd look. Are you in the marine aftermarket performance business (excuse my ignorance as I'm new to the site) as I saw you supplied Cattitude w/ some goodies for his 575 SC??
