Actually, welding on the tank isn't the worst thing. What they do is pressurize the tank with argon, so there's not chance for a fire...until the argon runs out.

I did exactly what cobra marty suggested. Got a piece of 2" thickwall aluminum tubing and tapped into the side at a 45 degree angle with 1/2" npt. Be carefull when you cut the fill tubing and anything around that opening. There are a lot of fumes !!!!!!!!!!!!
