330 hp 454 lost freeze plug over winter

had checked no water or cracks install rubber scew in plug. i only run in fresh water lakes. marina told me the temp plugs are fine as long as the are replaced every winter until there is a reson to pull the moter and then install regular plug does this sound right to you all????

I have used the rubber plugs before but only for temporary repair. I have seen them come out. A good way to end a fun weekend on the lake. I would install a brass freeze plug as soon as possible. Better make sure you dont have some others on the way out too.

If you can get to the freeze plug to put in a rubber plug , why not just tap in a real one. I had a 211 Liberator that this happened to. All the plugs on one side were in the bilge. It had a removable back seat so I fished them out , Permatexed them and tapped them back in place. That was May 1993 and except for a few years the engine sat idle due to a 540 in the boat , it's been back in since 2000 and still fine
