I have been running a boat with a 888 merc io and just bought a boat with a king cobra io. I have 3 nice ss props for the merc that I would like to use on the king cobra. All the props are 15 spline and seem to fit the shaft nice except for the right spacing on the thrust washer. I have heard that with the right thrust washer you can use a merc prop on a king cobra. Does anyone know if this is true and possibly a part # or where to get one? Thanks for any reply, Denny

The bottoming out on mine accrued on the splines, even with out a thrust washer it was not even with in an inch of the housing, with the standard rubber hub merc prop. But if it is a flow torque hub prop, then, yes, Merc makes the kit, it has new spline hub, black hub spacer, and washer, around 40 bucks anywere. Best of luck.

With modification a Mercury prop can be used on an OMC, Evinrude/Johnson/Volvo.
You need a 1" bore to remove enough of the spline in the hub until the prop will slide far enough down the prop shaft to fit into the gearcase properly. Then you need the thrust washer that is used for the flo torque hub kit for your application. The part number of the thrust washer is a Mercury/Quicksilver 12-835467008.
After modifying the hub it can still be used on Mercury applications, there will just be less spline engagement.

I also have a king cobra drive. I use a mercury mirage prop on it. There is an adapter kit that you can get. The kit includes a rubber hub for the prop and a piece that fits the splines on the prop shaft and keys into the adapter hub with four grooves. The kit also includes a bushing and prop nut.
I cant remember the mfg. but I got it through Houston Propeller (281)580-7767 $50-$75 if memory serves me correctly.
