Hi all, i have a question about my pitot pickup. Some time or another, someone installed a plastic generick pitot tube instead of using the drive, probably plugged or something. The stupid plastic one folds up after some high speed ruff water runs, or high speed at all. Was looking at the CP performance site and they have some solid mount stainless and one fold up stainless. Looks like the solids can be bought in various lengths, but the fold up is one length that can be adjusted, but it doesn't look very long. What do you guys run or what do you recommend. Should i just go with the solid mount, i live in wisconsin, so lakes are usually what i run on.
thanks

The fold up one is so that if you hit something it will flip up out of the way. With a solid pitot, if it hits an object it will break off.
I'd go with the spring loaded model. The first time you snag it on a branch or something you'll be greatful. Probably save you money in the long run.

Don't think the one they sell is spring loaded, just frictin from a bolt. The spring loaded stainless models i have seen are 200 bucks or better. Unless you've seen something else, i'd probably go with the friction type fold up for around seventy. Any other ideas?
