Ok we need to run a second idler on the crossover.
This will take up the slack on the long belt. (2000mm) I see others that dont run them However, I was instructed to do it. Start with 3/4 inch alum. plate. Get one inch dowel and tell them ya want to run a 3/8 inch hole down the center. Chop the pipe into three inch pieces and they will be the stand offs. |
Re: New to me Skater.

Use the crossover as a template and drill 4 holes in the plate.
Get some grade 8 bolts and measure where the pulley's gonna go. I use a vice grip to hold it in place. to make sure it will actualy work. |

Heres what it looks like after buffing it up.
The carbs with the -8 bowl feeds and the .150 Needle and seats. Gotta love the Parker Blue hose. What nice stuff compared to the Braded stainless lines. |

Here is the PSI adapter plate. It takes the Wedge shaped discharge and converts it to the rectangular opening.
Notice the discoloration of the intercooler this is from the old blowers. You can see it was getting hot. Atleast the curanickel has a higher melting point then alum. This is what Roger at PSI was warning me about with melting cores. Gotta keep the bowls full of fuel. Where the fuelpresure sending unit is reading it can easily miss read actual fuel pressure after the needle and seat. |
Re: New to me Skater.
hay gerry looking good and the parker line is a heck of alot easer to work with keep up the good work and the posting

Have you figured the correct drive height for your project? I would say Rik at Arneson is the guy to call! Any more pictures of the original MYWAY? |
Re: New to me Skater.
Yep spoke to Rik he has pointed me in the right direction.
Sorry they the only pics I had I found them on the web a couple of years ago while looking for turbine stuff. Great looking boat keep up the good work Jason |

I will set the Solid lash at .022 cold. but time to up grade. That looks easier to run through the valves compare to the stud girdles. Paint job looks great, even after a six pack! :drink: I do my best work with a buzz. :D |
Re: New to me Skater.
You can't go by Gerry's colors, cause he likes trannys!! NOT!!!
Call me Monday jackl. |

Jessel or TD you cant loose! The pushrods are over 11 inches long. Thats actualy a drawback when using Big Chiefs. Side Loading bigtime on the lifters. |

Re: New to me Skater.
Wow big chiefs, I thought you guys with big blower motors ran diff heads. We ran those in our open boat, nothing but trouble, but we turned them 9k.
If you could get ahold of some sterling stuff, he moves the lifters so they are straight, major block work. CM |

My intensions were to go 45 hours on the valve train. 6700 is where my rev limiters are set. 23 hours on the motors last season. Just tore them down and they looked good. If ya want to make real power ya gotta run the chiefs. CFE is the real ticket. ( Carl Foltz) I would love to tear down a sterling. Curtis you must have had some serious bottom ends. |
Re: New to me Skater.
We were runnning 13.5:1 compression, love the smell of race gas. They produced about 950hp, on 500 ci.
Used the splayed capped blocks, after we went to those we had no problem with the lowers. Before that we cracked cranks almost every race. These motors had to be rebuilt after every race, it was a pain. crash box, with efi. They sounded bad ass. CM |

Ok lets wipe the dust off this thread.
Please allow us to show you Skater lovers How we Hacks up here in Rhode Island Paint a big tub! First rent a really cheap warehouse. Then look for a Airbrush Artist. This ones name is Steve Smith and just so happens to be on page 4 of the Outerlimits Catalog. Steve is now on his own and kicking some serious Paintjobs. If I may introduce Steve of "Extreme Graphics Operation". Or EGO Graphics................ |
3 Attachment(s)
Some ideas that we discussed.
Notice the amount of masking. This is done with transfer tape. Yes the same stuff Taod uses as well as Mitcher T. alot of the reverse graphics you see on these Big dollar paintjobs are produced with vinyl plotters off the computer. Its a big sticker thats printed using the computer. Most of these artists used to do these by hand some still do both like this guy Steve! |

Now what color do ya use?
I still like the Bright yelos, reds, Purples that I used to spray my Hustler. So Steve said will use the Dupont colors like the Spectromaster yelo and the spectra red as the bases. Then will add the House of color pearls such as Sunrise pearl,Tangelo pearl, Combined with some prissimion red, And some True blue pearl. As you can see there is no clear and this stuff is simply amazing. |
Wow!

What I like about this Dude. "He is from the School of spend the least and get the most".
Notice the White lines highlighting the graphics. No.... not the stuff all you high rollers snort!:D Its 1/4 inch fine line. Next time ya pick up a Extreme boat magazine notice all the heavy hitters love to use this stuff. The nice thing is it actually makes the edges easier. |
That paint is sick!! Great thread! Keep it coming :D :D

Here is some from a few feet back.
Some of my buds up here saw this boat and have already got in line for the next paintjobs. Call The heavy painters up and ask for a quote then give This guy a call. You wont be dissapointed! |

Notice his choice of colors in his Drop shadows.
Here is the deck coming to life! Check out his fades. |

I have to say I have been painting since I was 19 years old.
But when a real artist comes along it really is wild to see them go. I had to take my sneakers off to get up on the deck to take these pictures and The thought of my smelly socks crossed my mind. Then I realized he most likley wouldnt smell it over the paint fumes............I think:rolleyes: |
