New to me Skater.

3 Attachment(s)
This is headed north.
It is a project but pretty much what I was looking for.
I am ready!

Any other 46 owners who can assist me with some measurements and questions please help.

I have to admit the size is overwhelming but as the day progressed it actually seem to get smaller. :D

Thanks in Advance
Gerry

Re: New to me Skater.

Peter at Skater called me today and will give some of the measurements needed to go back to pistons.

1000hp with # 6,s need ratio 1.35 figure 32 props
Drive shaft lenth from 24-30 inches.

Anyone can measure theres?
Need drive shaft lenth from transmission flange to
#6 flange.
also Crankshaft center line to bottom of hull
or any measure that will give me engine height.
a photo would be worth 1000 words.

I keep looking at the pic with the guy standing in it and it gives a good idea of how big that MONSTER is.

Im thinking what else came with the boat, meaning what comes out of those sponsons when you hit the switch and they open up like a rear cargo hatch on a transport plane, a couple of ATV's or a couple Sea Doo's? :D

Re: New to me Skater.

Ok heres a update.

Snowing outside as I type

Drives Are out getting 1.35 ratios installed.
Piston engines are apart getting freshend up.
Changing cams to solids with some CFE heads.
Im gonna spin them to 7500.

Peter at Skater has sent me half the mounts still waiting
for the feet.

The motor rails are the originals.
The water pickups I am working on are the ones
Peter uses. They are actully built into the bottom.
I am told this boat had them I can see where it was
filled inside the transom.
I will be doing some glass work to fit them.

I will run second taps off the strainers to feed the second stage of the water pumps to feed the chillers.
this will keep it down to one waterpickup per engine.

Bellhousings, Transmissions, HD couplers are in.
I was going to lenthen the turbine drive shaft.
I will just have new ones built.
Powersteering pump is here.

Most of the Gaffrig gauges should be fine however
there are some turbine specific In ex. percentage
rpms.
The rear hatches where the turbine exhaust exits
are removed and we are building new ones which will
be the top of the sunpad. The lower larger hatches will keep. The Large scoops are staying with sunpad between them.

Keep in mind this will be a pleasure Cat. I still must
accomadate my Girls.
This one actully has a small cabin/cuddy underneath
with a factory Porti John.
The two front seats are out at the interior guys place.
The rear bench seats are in excellent condition.

Still working on what graphics shes getting.
Mild or wild Ill figure it out.
For those of you who followed my Hustler it was certainly
busy in the graphics and cockpit.

I will post some pictures as I start to assemble
this mess.

Thanks to Tom Byrd and Jim Lee and ofcourse Peter Hledin for there knowledege and pictures of there 46 Skaters.

(Geez Ya not accepting an award) :evilb:

ok so lets make some stripes

400 da the original white and apply some masking
random stripes pulled form some pictures in the Livorsi catalog.

ok I really dont want to make this two busy.

I have been watching the mild wild paint job polls
and it appears to be even.

So I promise not to go to wild.

Lets add a little red.

KNOT-RIGHT 01-23-2006 01:32 PM

Re: New to me Skater.

1 Attachment(s)
now some random stripes (masking) is applied over the red
using a low grade stick tape.

Make sure the base is flashed 1hour at 70f

Then I pick a really cool metalic blue from my lexus
paint code book. Well not really there was blue accents
on this boat I just changed the hue by using a lexus color.

Paint over the other masking.

KNOT-RIGHT 01-23-2006 01:37 PM

Re: New to me Skater.

now I pull the all the tape and weight to flash.

I really didnt want to add yellow to the deal but I couldnt
resist the temptation with the blue.

I mask the off the background exsposing the white
and run a slight mist of airbrush canary yellow down the
edge.

The turbine specific gauges % tachs and 24 volt gauges.
are thrown in the ever growing EBAY bound turbine part pile.

The gauges are all white rim with white face. Complimented with polished bezzels.

Now in the meanwhile back to the spaghetti warehouse.

Byrdman ispired me with his class a rigging.

MAN, that's alot of wire! Great job on the dash. This is gonna be one bad machine when you finish it. Are you shooting for this Summer or just taking your time?

KNOT-RIGHT 01-23-2006 02:47 PM

Re: New to me Skater.

Man you should see what I took out already.

They used the marine type two conducter yelo and red
stuff. gauges to 10 12 14
17 pairs per engine already at 26 feet a peace

You should see the massive size of the starter generater
wiring. 00 stuff about 50 feet of it.
I should scrap the stuff

Got to take this one step at a time. I should have something that moves without oars by the summer :D

Re: New to me Skater.

Thanks ED!

The weather has been cooperating I should get most of the dash wiring done tommaro.

One step at a time.

The A frame you see in the picture is a massive tent I
have constructed. Its almost 20 degrees warmer in the
tent. Thats why the pictures look blue. :D

Didnt Eddy Van Halen turn 52 today?

James if you could. Look in the livorsi catolog. Notice the military toggle switches. Do they make the nice little colored rubber covers for those? There not shown if they do order me

Thanks
