My new 2007 30 SKater
#52
The powerboat mag test, Jan 2007, pages 78-80, reported 104mph @ 93 deg air temp, 47%hum, dead flat calm. The same boat from the test, saw 108+ when the boat was run in cooler conditions. We have been discussing the setup, prop size, and trim angle. I expect mine to be fast, very fast.

shaft centerline and the bottom of the boat, at the transom. We tend to use the term
somewhat loosely to mean where the prop is in relation to the bottom of the boat. As an
example, the same X-dim on a bravo boat puts the prop in a different position in relation
to the bottom that a SSM#6 boat. Additionally, the transom angle needs to be considered
as the same x-dim on a 12deg transom puts the prop in a different position in relation to
the bottom of the boat as a 14deg transom. Having said all that, most of us pretty much
mean prop position in relation to the bottom of the boat when we loosely refer to x-dim.
The reason we are doing jack plates, is to have an ‘x-dim’ that is easily changeable in
very small increments. An additional benefit of a jack plate, is that they push the props back
farther, which can put them into cleaner water. Of course one needs to be very careful not
to overly change the CG of the boat, since the motor is being pushed back. CG is
everything in both performance and safety with these cats. In discussions with Skater and
someone involved with the Powerboat mag test, we feel that the setup we are using is
correct for this boat, and that we may see a performance benefit with a little bit of
additional 'dialing in'. As long time offshore racer, I tend to want to make
minor changes, and then test these changes, until I achieve the desired feel and results. This setup will allow me to do this.

Chris,
Happy to share.
I will post more pictures as rigging progresses.
We are also planing on a photo shoot from the air, here in FL once the boat gets here. This is what we will be using, a Canon XL-H1 high defination, 16:9, professional camera.
