399 V

What is the real deal with these set up for pleasure? I know the race boats are the fastest but would like some info on the pleasure set up w/ full cabin from those in the know....

Speeds with 1075s? 850s?

Are they better or comparable to the Cig and OL? Rough conditions? Cabin size?

Any info would be great! Thanks...

Masher44,

Here is the thread of the one Parnell tested.

Thanks! How many were made? Are the F 16 style windscreens worth a damn?

TeamSaris 04-14-2007 04:37 PM

It will run circles around a Top Gun with the same power in any type of water.... I think the first boat ran 104-106 MPH with 525s.

Very, Very good running boat.

This should sum it up pretty good... Its a Skater.

racesdad 04-14-2007 06:29 PM

one sick piece. they do nothing but quaulity work at skater.it would have put baja near the top if they would have stuck to it, they need it, skaters still #1

Buddy OO 04-14-2007 09:01 PM

I thought first boat, which was the baja/skater had 1,000's in it, which boat had 525's, Are you sure a full pleasure with cabin 399 went 104-106mph with stock 525's, that would be unheard of for a 40' pleasure vee/

I think he's refering to the race boat. The only Skater pleasure boat made is the one at LCM. I believe a second is in production though.

I was just down in sarasota in the orange one lake cumberland has with 1075s for the powerboat trials. that boat is simply awsome it is like a cat with one sponson it is by far the best deep vee i have ever been in .and i have been in them all it flat out does it it all handles like it was on railes. pete it nothing short of a genouis and i cant spell i know that. but that boat flat out flies cant give any numbers but were way up there .and handle like no other vee i have seen it is no wonder there beating reggie this boat is so forgiving stevie wonder could throttle and trim it . and i know im pro skater but trust me this boat rocks just go for a .ride in one dont listen to me. I will stop rambling but this thing is one cool skater

DriverofDonzi 04-23-2007 09:04 AM

I heard about a team Thruya (sp) buy a brand new skater??? i dont know if that is true?

18skater 05-27-2007 01:35 AM

i built the 399 "conrad boat" parnell and i ran 136 on glass in lake mac, holland michigan. this boat was one of the best v boats we have built at skater worth every penny. full cabin, twin staggered 1075's # 6's.............SWEET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Smarty 06-04-2007 09:37 PM

I am a Skater believer. If only I could that tree in my yard to grow money:D That 399 V would be my boat.

maxonmike 07-04-2007 06:35 PM

That is a really bad ass boat..... I cant think of a faster V bottom with stock Merc power.....

Turmel set one up as well - 138 MPH with stock 1075's. He said the accelleration was absolutely amazing and on rails at the top end.

MOBILEMERCMAN 09-21-2007 11:11 AM

I have raced and like Fountains very much, but I love the Skater. I was lucky to drive the first race boat for the '04 season for Todd Welling. What a sweet ride. It had bravos the second race boat had 6's and a lower deck. I wish I could have taken a run in it. I believe that if some one was determined and took the time to set it up it could be the worlds fastest V. It is truly something special.
