Here is some more of the fuel system.
I can only imagine the alcohol consumption required after assembly. |

Firestorm? Good question! Ladies and gentleman may I intraduce. Jim Grasham Jim is relativly new when it comes to Offshore boat installations. However as you all can see Jim and his team have been building FAA Certified Turbines for many years. We all know there is plenty of room in the offshore world of Turbine Applications. Look for him and his company logo on my boat aswell as others in the very near future.:cool-smiley-011: |
Looks like they do a real good quality job.
Turbines are definitely the future for high performance boats chances are you will never go back to piston power again. What GPH do you think you are going to run? What fuel do you plan to use? |
Another question, how does the cost compare to say a 1500 sterling ?

We are going to attempt to lower the min Idle speed. Are choices of fuel would be Kerosene Jet A Deisel/gas mix |

What $80,000 for one 1500 HP engine. One of the deciding factors in my choice was the maintanence intervals. Big HP piston engines require more maintanence then Britney Spairs. Turbines go 3000 hours for first inspections for flight service. Jim at PPS would be the one to speak to in regards to exact pricing, But I would assume you could get a pair of Turbines for pretty close to that number. Where a considerable amount of expence would be the rigging However I am a firm beleaver of "spend the least and get the most". Not mentioning names but when your the only real turbine specific rigger in the country you can pretty much charge what ya want. Heck, if someone dropped off a boat here with a couple of t53,s I would install them for cost. Why? Because I would have a good time doing it. "When its no longer any fun quit doing it." In short when people start to think outside the box and this turbine thing ketches on look for much more competative pricing.;) |
Sound like you got great handle on the who to use and what to use department figured out. I enjoy loging in and looking to see new posts in this thread, kinda like your last build, keep them coming.

Pictured are some pics of the fuel manifolds being tested for spray pattern and flow as wall as the installation of the accy. carrier assembly. The accy. gearbox is the one at the 6 o'clock position it drives the starter/generator the fuel control and the oil pump.with the oil filter also mounted to it. The gearbox is also called the N1 gearbox. The N2 gearbox is the smaller one on the laft hand side of the engine and communicates power turbine speed to the overspeed governor. It also drives the torque boost pump that boosts oil pressure for the torque meter system. Look closely at the inside of the inlet housing and you will see that we have installed the PTO gear in the event you decide down the road that you want to relocate your starter/generator. This is the same gear that drives the N1 gearbox. |

OK, Gerry, After seeing these latest pics I had to give up the ghost and update my avatar. Time for you to do the same.
