frog, in looking at the pics in the beginning of the thread all the work was done form the outside. how did you fix the laminate on the inside of the core. also it's blocked out on the pic but there is only one line going to the bag where's the infusion side of the setup??? are you infusing or vacuum bagging???

Infusing... you don't see the inside where the other line is. We drilled the inner laminates out to provide a means to suck through.

Pretty creative if you ask me...

We did a bunch of tests on balsa core before we tried it, and in every case it pulled through 100% and wet everything out fully. You will note that we didn't leave a single ounce of affected core or 'glass area. 100% of the damage and delamination was cut out.

We found some other areas inside the boat as well that we 'bagged and infused as well. The epoxy gave us plenty of working time and it is very strong...

Plus, the zero air pocket aspect just can't be beat.

We are an infusion shop. Our deckboats are built only with infusion, and the technology can't be beaten for construction or otherwise. The committment to the process has to be 100% though... the order of operations, type of mentality and attention to detail isn't for everyone, and it is really easy to eat a part if you mess it up.

Which is why we replaced the balsa in the boat with CoreCell. Balsa is neigh on impossible to infuse without gaining a ton of weight, and it doesn't like letting the resin move. Basically, it is a resin sponge under vacuum.

Perfect!! Very simple and with some metallics and candys in will look great.

I think the new paint should look sick, Eric for what you have done to that boat in the last year and a half it is as close to a brand new boat as you can get! Of course with out building a brand new boat.
